B-WONDER grew from a love of bees, botanicals and thoughtfully made skincare. Handcrafted in small batches in Pretoria, our formulations bring together ingredients from the hive with carefully selected plant-derived ingredients.
For us, thoughtful skincare is about more than what goes into a jar or bottle. It extends from the way we care for our bees and choose our ingredients to how our products are made and packaged.
It’s a considered, small-scale approach — gentle by formulation, respectful of the hive and always looking for ways to tread a little lighter.
GENTLE BY FORMULATION
Thoughtful ingredients, chosen with purpose.
We formulate with the skin’s natural barrier in mind, choosing naturally derived ingredients for their purpose, performance and suitability for each product.
Our formulations bring together bee-derived ingredients such as honey, beeswax and propolis with carefully selected botanicals. We have a particular appreciation for ingredients with a connection to the South African landscape, including rooibos and Cape gold.
For us, thoughtful formulation isn’t about adding more. It’s about choosing ingredients carefully, using them with purpose and creating products that are gentle, practical and enjoyable to use.
FROM OUR HIVES
Respect for the hive, from the beginning.
Our bee-derived ingredients begin with our own small-scale hives, cared for with the wellbeing of the colony in mind.
Honey is harvested conservatively, while beeswax comes primarily from the cappings removed during honey extraction. The comb itself is returned to the hive for the bees to reuse — preserving work they have already done rather than asking them to rebuild unnecessarily.
We don’t harvest pollen or royal jelly, and propolis is collected from removed hive components or hives that have been abandoned. Our hives remain in their natural surroundings rather than being moved from crop to crop, and we avoid the use of chemicals or poisons in and around them.
It’s a small-scale approach to beekeeping that values the health of the hive as much as what we receive from it.
MADE WITH CONSIDERATION
Small batches, a lighter footprint.
B-WONDER products are made by hand in small batches, allowing us to work carefully, minimise unnecessary waste and maintain close attention to each formulation.
Our approach to packaging is similarly practical. We favour recyclable aluminium and glass where they suit the product, use plastic selectively where it offers a practical advantage, and aim to keep packaging simple rather than excessive.
Being mindful of our environmental impact is an ongoing process. We choose ingredients and materials thoughtfully, source locally where it makes sense, and continue to look for ways to reduce waste and make better choices as B-WONDER grows.
For us, being mindfully made doesn’t mean claiming perfection. It means considering the impact of the choices we make — from ingredient to hive, batch to bottle — and continually looking for ways to tread a little lighter.
